US spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds took in $176.0 million on Tuesday 27 October, the second straight day of net inflows, with no fund recording an outflow (TokenPost, 28 October). BlackRock’s IBIT drew $151.5 million and Fidelity’s FBTC $24.5 million; the other ten funds reported no net flow. Wednesday’s number is where the data break down: Farside Investors’ figure, relayed by Blockchain.News, is $137.3 million, while SoSoValue’s, quoted by Coingabbar on Thursday, is $1.32 million. Bitcoin itself slipped under $80,000 this morning, at $79,858 on Coinbase at 07:04 UTC.

Tuesday 27 October: all inflow, no outflow

Tuesday’s total alone exceeded the five-session net of $37.6 million that TokenPost cites, and followed Monday’s $110.3 million. Cumulative net flows since launch stood at $57.537 billion after Tuesday on TokenPost’s count. For the month, the arithmetic is straightforward: our 25 October update and TFTC’s tally had October at −$202.1 million through 26 October; adding Tuesday’s $176.0 million gives about −$26.1 million, which matches a Cryptopolitan headline that the October deficit had narrowed to $26 million (we could not load the full article). Note that these are mixed sources.

Wednesday 28 October: two providers, two answers

ProviderWednesday 28 Oct net flowIBITBITBCumulative

SoSoValue (via Coingabbar)+$1.32M$0.00+$1.32M (16.27 BTC)$57.47B

Sources: Blockchain.News, 28 October (Farside data via an X post); Coingabbar, 29 October (SoSoValue). Coingabbar also gave total net assets of $104.27 billion, 2.37% of bitcoin’s market capitalisation, and value traded of $1.26 billion.

These cannot both be right as a full-day number, and the most likely explanation is timing: a provider that publishes before BlackRock reports will show IBIT at zero and then revise. SoSoValue’s line (only BITB with a flow, every other fund at $0.00) looks like an unrevised preliminary print. See our guide to reading an ETF flow table for why providers can differ. We cannot confirm which is right, so we treat the Farside figure as the likelier but unverified, and we will update it once both providers agree.

Two other differences are visible. SoSoValue’s cumulative net inflow of $57.47 billion is lower than the $57.537 billion TokenPost reported a day earlier, even though the day was positive on both counts, so the providers use different baselines. If Farside’s $137.3 million is right, October’s month-to-date net moves to about +$111 million (−$26.1M + $137.3M, our arithmetic); on SoSoValue’s number it stays near −$25 million. The sign of the month depends on which provider you read.

Bitcoin was flat on Monday, rose on Tuesday and Wednesday, and fell back under $80,000 today before the next flow number exists. That is consistent with what we have found before: daily fund flows follow price and macro news at least as much as they cause it. With PCE and GDP at 8:30 a.m. ET today and a 78.4% market-implied chance of a December hike (CME FedWatch via Coingabbar), the next prints will show whether buyers stay in when yields are above 5%. We covered the day-after-the-Fed pattern in today’s analysis.

What we are watching

  • Whether Farside and SoSoValue converge on Wednesday’s figure when the data are final.
  • Thursday’s flow, published after the close, against the 8:30 a.m. ET inflation and growth data.
  • Strategy’s third-quarter results after the close today, which feed the corporate side of bitcoin demand; we will cover them separately.

Method: bitcoin prices, highs, lows and closes are Coinbase Exchange candles (UTC day) pulled by Bitcoin Mastery at about 07:05 UTC on Thursday 29 October 2026; the 29 October candle is still open at that time, so any closing figure quoted is the 28 October close (81,249.31) unless stated. Other third-party figures are attributed to their source and date. ETF flow figures are provider-reported and preliminary until final; month-to-date sums are our arithmetic across sources and are labelled as such.
