US spot bitcoin ETFs took in a net $526.7 million on Monday 19 October 2026, the largest daily inflow since 22 September, according to Farside Investors data reported by Finwire. BlackRock’s IBIT added $665.2 million, while Fidelity’s FBTC lost $83.6 million and Grayscale’s GBTC lost $54.9 million. The inflow cut October’s month-to-date net from −$614.7 million to −$88.0 million. It arrived on a day when bitcoin was essentially flat: the Coinbase daily close of $81,838 was 0.2% below the open.

IBIT supplied 126% of the net figure because two funds were selling. Crypto Briefing reported the same IBIT number and noted that cumulative net inflows into US spot bitcoin ETFs passed $56 billion by mid-October. At Monday’s close, $526.7 million is about 6,436 bitcoin, and IBIT’s inflow alone is about 8,128 coins (our calculation). We explain how to read a table like this, and why a one-fund day deserves caution, in Field Guide #63.

Source: Farside Investors; the month total and weekly sums are our arithmetic. Finwire's report puts last week's net at about −$229 million, consistent with our −$228.4 million.

The two weeks before Monday were net selling: −$678.9 million in the week of 5 October, including the month’s largest daily outflow of $484.9 million on 7 October, and −$228.4 million in the week of 12 October, which included the −$261.4 million reaction to the hot US inflation report on 14 October. Monday’s inflow is larger than the whole of last week’s outflow, but the month remains negative, and the previous larger inflow, $714.7 million on 22 September, was bigger.

Ether ETFs went the other way

US spot ether ETFs recorded net outflows of $103.3 million on Monday, with BlackRock’s ETHA down $95.4 million, per Finwire. Ether funds lost about $320 million last week, their third consecutive week of net withdrawals. Ether traded near $2,408 early on Tuesday, according to the KuCoin daily report. The split between a rebounding bitcoin product and a weaker ether product is the clearest difference in Monday’s data.

What the price did

Bitcoin opened Monday at $82,007, traded between $81,634 and $83,076, and closed at $81,838 (Coinbase, UTC). It was trading near $81,560 at about 06:05 UTC on Tuesday. The KuCoin report puts $82,000 to $82,200 as near-term resistance and $81,300 to $81,500 as support, and has the Fear & Greed Index at 55, down from 59. That makes Monday a day when a large inflow and a flat price coexisted, a reminder that flows are an after-the-fact measure of fund activity and not a price trigger.

Wall Street had a better day than crypto. The Nasdaq Composite rose 1.1% to 26,430.89 and the S&P 500 gained 0.4% to 7,690.73, with the semiconductor index ending an eight-session losing streak, per Yahoo Finance and the KuCoin report. IBIT’s inflow came on the same day tech stocks rebounded, though the data cannot show whether the two are linked.

What to watch next

  • Confirmation or fade: Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s flows, published after the close, will show whether Monday was the start of a run or a one-day rebalance. Two more inflow days would move October back toward positive.
  • Corporate earnings: SpaceX and Netflix report after the close on Tuesday, and Tesla and Meta on Wednesday. We look at SpaceX’s 18,712 bitcoin in our earnings-night preview.
  • The Fed: the FOMC decision is due on Wednesday 28 October. How bitcoin has traded on past Fed days is in our study of bitcoin on Fed days.
  • Regulation: the US CFTC has proposed a framework, reported by KuCoin as Reg CM, that would let crypto exchanges opt into federal oversight; it is a proposal, not a rule.

Method and limits

Method: daily flows are from the Farside Investors table (farside.co.uk/btc), read on 20 October 2026; fund sums, weekly totals, the October total and coin equivalents are our arithmetic. The Monday price range is from Coinbase Exchange daily candles (UTC). Flow figures can be revised and we did not check issuer filings. Ether, equity and sentiment data are from Finwire, Yahoo Finance and KuCoin as linked.
